The following information is being provided by South Fayette Township to assist local residents in learning more about the Marcellus Shale drilling operations that are presently occurring in various areas throughout Pennsylvania and will most likely begin in our township in the next few years. The website links provided will allow residents to learn more about what Marcellus Shale is, what is its potential impact on our country’s energy reserves, and how the drilling process itself is conducted. Additionally, there are link to websites that outline the present state laws and how other municipalities are dealing with this process.

This link is to the website for the Gas Well Task Force of Lycoming County, which is located just northeast of State College. This area has experienced the entire process associated with Marcellus Shale for the last couple of years. This website gives one an indication as to what measures and policies the county has adopted in order to make this process a success for all parties involved.
